Oracle Engineered Systems are architected to work as a unified whole, so organizations can hit the ground running after deployment. Organizations choose how they want to consume the infrastructure: on-premises, in a public cloud, or in a public cloud located inside the customer’s data center and behind their firewall using Oracle’s “Cloud at Customer” offering. Oracle Exadata and Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (Recovery Appliance) offer an attractive alternative to do-it-yourself deployments. Together, they provide an architecture designed for scalability, simplified management, improved cost of ownership, reduced downtime, zero-data loss, and an increased ability to keep software updated with security and patching. Download this whitepaper to discover ten capabilities to consider for protecting your Oracle Database Environments.

Oracle Private Cloud Appliance is a converged infrastructure system designed for rapid and simple deployment of private cloud at an industry-leading price point. Whether customers are running Linux, Microsoft Windows or Oracle Solaris applications, Oracle Private Cloud Appliance supports consolidation for a wide range of mixed workloads in medium-to-large sized data centers. High-performance, low-latency Oracle Fabric Interconnect and Oracle SDN allow automated configuration of the server and storage networks. The embedded controller software automates the installation, configuration, and management of all infrastructure components at the push of a button. Customers need to enter only basic configuration parameters and create virtual machines (VMs) manually or by using Oracle VM Templates to get a full application up and running in a few hours. With Oracle Enterprise Manager, the Oracle Private Cloud Appliance is transformed into a powerful private cloud infrastructure that integrates

Traditionally, the best practice for mission-critical Oracle Database backup and recovery was to use storage-led, purpose-built backup appliances (PBBAs) such as Data Domain, integrated with RMAN, Oracle’s automated backup and recovery utility. This disk-based backup approach solved two problems: 1) It enabled faster recovery (from disk versus tape) 2) It increased recovery flexibility by storing many more backups online, enabling restoration from that data to recover production databases; and provisioning copies for test/dev. At its core, however, this approach remains a batch process that involves many dozens of complicated steps for backups and even more steps for recovery. Oracle’s Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (RA) customers report that total cost of ownership (TCO) and downtime costs (e.g. lost revenue due to database or application downtime) are significantly reduced due to the simplification and, where possible, the automation of the backup and recovery process.

Business leaders expect two things from IT: keep mission-critical applications available and high performing 24x7 and, if something does happen, recover to be back in business quickly and without losing any critical data so there is no impact on revenue stream. Of course, there is a gap between this de facto expectation from nontechnical business leaders and what current technology is actually capable of delivering. For mission-critical workloads, which are most often hosted on databases, organizations may choose to implement high availability (HA) technologies within the database to avoid downtime and data loss.

With horror stories in the news every week about lost or stolen laptops and backup tapes, the senior management team at Oregon Community Credit Union knew they had to do everything within their powers to protect their critical data as it traveled offsite to a third-party tape vaulting vendor. They were tasked with finding an affordable solution that would strike a balance between security, ease of use, and scalability.

Part 3 in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, "Customer Demands at the Edge." As distributed edge environments become more critical, physical security becomes more important. Nobody would leave their data center wide open for anyone to enter, but that’s exactly how many organizations treat their edge computing sites. Often, they consist of a rack or two of gear in a non-dedicated location, perhaps a janitor’s closet, with little to no physical security. Fill out your information and click "Register" to watch the third event in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, “Customer Demands at the Edge: Protect me from Downtime!” This webinar originally aired on November 9th, 2017. In this webinar, we discuss physical security best practices, including environmental issues such as temperature and humidity monitoring. We also update partners on the physical security features of the latest APC racks and the NetBotz line of security and environmental appliances, cameras and sensors.

Qsent needed to shore up its disaster recovery strategy. This meant sending backup tapes – each with more than 2.5 terabytes of data – between data centers and storing them offsite. To keep all its data safe and secure, Qsent chose NeoScale’s CryptoStor wire-speed tape security appliance to encrypt and decrypt data.

Enterprises are relying on WANs to carry more data than ever. With cloud computing, offsite disaster recovery and big data on the rise, it's more important than ever for IT professionals to boost application performance across the WAN. However, times are changing. Instead of deploying a physical WAN optimization appliance to improve application performance, the industry is moving to a better approach - virtual WAN acceleration software. It can be downloaded in minutes, runs almost anywhere, and controlled with the click of a mouse for maximum flexibility. In this report we not only explore the requirements for virtual WAN optimization but compare how Silver Peak's virtual WAN acceleration stacks up against Riverbed's physical Steelhead appliance.

Hey all, this is David Press and Doug Lardo, two engineers working on improving the data center networking that enables online services at Riot. This article is the third part in a series on exactly that topic, which begins with an overview from Jonathan of a platform we called rCluster. This time we’ll be discussing our approach to Software Defined Networking (SDN), how we integrate SDN with Docker, and the new infrastructure paradigms that this combination has unlocked for us. If you’re curious about how SDN can transform infrastructure, how to empower developers to obtain and secure networking resources via an API, or how to get out of purchasing larger and larger specialized networking appliances, this article is for you.
