When Daniel Shuler joined Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) as CISO in 2016, he knew the hospital would be a tempting target for cyber criminals due to the massive troves of sensitive data it collects to diagnose and treat patients. Over the next three years, Shuler spearheaded a complete overhaul of PCH’s security fabric. First, he decommissioned the legacy AV and engaged BlackBerry Cylance’s ThreatZERO™ consultants to deploy CylancePROTECT® on over 4,000 endpoints. Soon after, CylancePROTECT stopped a ransomware attack that could have disrupted patient care by preventing access to electronic medical record data. Next, he engaged a BlackBerry Cylance Red Team to perform annual penetration testing assignments. Says Shuler, “Our relationship is unique in my experience. BlackBerry Cylance has proven repeatedly that they have our best interests at heart and that they share our commitment to provide the best care possible for children and their families.” Read the case study for the full s

Michael Farino is the Hospitality Manager for the New York office of DLA Piper (DLA), one of the world’s largest business law firms.Michael and his team oversee the firm’s meal program and all caterin gand special events. With 500 employees in the office and dozens of client meetings and special events each month, this is no small task. DLA worked with Seamless to create a set of rules that would govern when and how employees could order food. Each and every one of DLA’s 500 NYC-based employees was given a username and password. Everyone was free to log-in and order their own meals. Everyone was also assigned to a specific budget group. These budget groups are based each person’s role at the Firm and can accommodate different spending limits and permission levels. As Michael notes, “right away, Seamless gave us the power to enforce our rules, but still be flexible so people get what they need. It’s a win-win.”

Researchers in the occupational electrical medical emergencies show that in a six-year period 32,840 serious but non-fatal injuries occurred, some 60% involving electric shock and 40% involving electric burns. Obviously, the electric shock injuries occurred in relation to low voltage equipment since electric shock in relation to medium voltage equipment is as a rule fatal. It is reported that in the U.S., annually about 2000 arc burn related injuries occur and require hospitalization. Thus, the impact of such injuries on workers becomes a major concern in itself, beyond the economic aspects which are not to be ignored.
