Today’s modern mobile fluid power systems are designed to be increasingly compact, which means they require smaller hydraulic fluid reservoirs. The drawback to that is the susceptibility to aeration. Fluid aeration reduces the efficiency and responsiveness, and increases the noise of hydraulic systems. Collapsing air bubbles on the high-pressure side can also cause erosion, which can cause pump failure and unplanned downtime. Read how high performing GTL oils, like Shell Tellus S4 VE, allows for rapid air release, proving up to 8% efficiency and a recorded 50% perceived reduction in sound.
