There is an impression today that Information Lifecycle Management is a new concept. Management of the information lifecycle has been with us since the dawn of the computer age. While recent legislation and shifts in media cost have spawned a mini-boom in replication start-ups and new storage technologies, the fundamentals of information management have not changed.

Electronics and Software Engineering are quickly merging with traditional Mechanical Engineering to create a new paradigm in auto manufacturing: Mechatronics. Industry experts predict that this shift will bring about profound advances in automotive product development. Unfortunately, existing IT and process infrastructures do not provide sufficient capabilities to support the new paradigm: multiple data silos, a lack of standardized processes, and integration issues on a tool level (Mechanical, Electronic, Software) continue to pose serious obstacles to development efficiency, and remain a frequent source of delays, quality issues and cost increases.

Never before has the Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry seen such rapid change in business models, adoption of digital technologies, and global, distributed, collaborative workflows. New business ventures, consolidation of terrestrial-based television stations, broadband penetration, time-to-market pressures, and shifting audience viewership are some of the ingredients that are contributing to the re-definitions that are taking place in the M&E industry.

The realities of security and compliance have changed considerably since patch management faced its first big paradigm shift some years ago. At that time many organizations wrestled with the transition from manual patching and remediation to an automated process. Of course, nothing in security is ever static, so it is no surprise that patch management has continued to evolve since then. Though still automated, today’s best patch management tools and techniques are significantly different from their predecessors. In this whitepaper, Lumension Security’s Matt Mosher, Senior Vice President of the Americas, gives an historical perspective on how this evolution unfolded and why it is important for organizations to evolve their patch management technology in order to remain on top of increasing security attacks.

Rising demand for multimedia applications and mobile usage requires new paradigm to shift voice-oriented cellular architecture into data-oriented networks in order to serve bandwidth hungry packet based applications which include but not limited to multimedia gaming, mobiTV, streaming media, P2P, etc. Data oriented network requires 20-fold fatter air link and backhaul as compared to typical voice communication.

Clear Image was awarded a contract to supply and fit CCTV and Access control to NISA, one of the largest picking warehouses in Europe. The company runs 3 shifts per day and wanted to allocate lockers to employees. The simple solution would have been to give each employee a locker, but between Borer and Clear Image, a better solution was devised. Thanks to our technology, we can create one to many relationships between our devices.

The Associated Press, like all publishing and digital media companies, must work rapidly to meet the demands of a shifting media landscape. An exploding wave of free content on the web meant that AP not only had to deliver more content online, but needed to create more relevance and niche content in order to update traditional ad revenue models with targeted web-based products and more potential for advertising dollars.

One of the most important questions a company can ask itself is “what is our differentiation?” The reason is simple: it’s how you define yourself in the minds of your customers and beat the competition. Beyond that, it’s what guides business strategy as you face decisions and choices on a daily basis. A company that knows who it is and how it adds value for customers and prospects has a solid foundation for making those decisions. One that has an unclear position or, worse yet, constantly shifts position, has a difficult path in a challenging market. That’s why branding discussions need to go well beyond graphics and touch on the values and identity that are at the core of any successful company.

This paper begins by exploring why SOX compliance continues to be so difficult when it is treated as an annual project rather than a continuous process. Then the paper discusses how Likewise Enterprise can help your company make the shift to continuous compliance for identity and access management in a mixed network. Likewise joins Linux, Unix, and Mac OS X computers to Active Directory, providing the basis to assign each user a unique ID for authentication, authorization, and monitoring. Likewise also includes group policies for non-Windows computers so that you can centrally manage their security settings in the same way as Windows computers.

In the world of storage management, something looms large on the horizon: the cloud. The cloud impacts storage strategies whether you are moving your storage to the cloud, managing the on-premises storage of private cloud applications, or a combination. Many organizations already take advantage of cloud storage, but an even greater shift is on the way. In a recent survey, respondents forecasted increases in cloud storage as large as 75 percent.

It wasn’t long ago that being on the cutting edge of business meant having a website where customers could purchase your products, but that quickly changed. Soon, it wasn’t enough just to have an e-commerce presence; you had to offer an interactive and engaging customer experience (see Web 2.0). Now the standard has shifted once again; in order to truly compete in the modern economy, your business needs to have a mobile storefront on smart phones and tablets. Without this mobile presence, you’ll lose business to competitors who have them. With this new challenge comes high risk as well as great reward. With mobility, the client side of your applications is more important than ever. Instead of accessing your website from the safe confines of work or home, your customers can now perform sensitive transactions anywhere. As a result, mobile applications, and the devices and data they interact with, can now be more easily attacked.

Mass mailing, mass emails or SMS blasts - ask any business to consumer(B2C) marketing professional what they think of them and they will probably tell you there's been a shift away from such indiscriminate approaches in favor of more targeted campaigns. And they'll tell you that the main reason for this shift is that customers are more demanding; asking to be recognized as individuals and expecting communications to be relevant to their unique lifestyles, wants and needs.
