Customers have grown accustomed to high speeds and reliable connectivity. One second of network delay when accessing website, mobile app, or application service can increase your bounce rate and even decrease your customer’s trust in your brand. The typical business pain points per the above scenario are always like: Latency – While, latency problems caused by geographic distance are impossible to solve on the public Internet; Availability – Packet loss and complaints from customers can prevent you from increasing your user base; Cost - The growth of your user base and your business needs both outpace your IT budget. Security - Connections over the public Internet are vulnerable to DDoS attacks and other threats. This whitepaper describes: • Challenges that Magic Video faced before implementing Alibaba Cloud’s solutions • How Alibaba Cloud’s solutions help Magic Video build a global hybrid enterprise network, accelerate content delivery of the application, and maximize bandwidth?

To best support global users and customers, enterprises require seamlessly connectivity between branch office locations, applications, and workloads hosted in the cloud. Many WAN solutions are ill-equipped for this task because they are generally rigid, complex to configure, and expensive to maintain. IoT adoption, a dramatic increase of the number of network devices, and the sophistication of security threats further compounds this challenge. Geographically-distributed devices need secure cloud connectivity, limiting the ability of existing WAN solutions to fulfill the need of distributed organizations. Cisco SD-WAN on Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an overlay WAN architecture that is designed to address modern enterprise cloud applications and workloads, heterogeneous WAN connectivity, distributed global workforces, and other business needs that traditional WAN solutions cannot meet. According to the American Community Survey, tele-commuting jumped 79 percent between 2005 and 2012. More than 9 million American workers did their jobs exclusively from home in 2010, according to the U.S. Census, and 30 million work from home at least once a week. And TechCast at George Washington University estimates as many as 30 percent of U.S. private sector workers could be working from home by 2019. For sales professionals, that proportion is certainly higher. The Telework Research Network found in 2011 that 70 percent of those working from home are in management, professional, sales and office jobs. If you’re in sales, you probably spend a considerable amount of time on the go. And why shouldn’t you? Smartphones offer constant, pocket-sized connectivity. Ubiquitous Wifi threatens to render the cubicle obsolete, and the right social networking strategy can sup-plant a hundred individual pitch meetings.

Application release automation (ARA) tools enable best practices in deploying and promoting applicationrelated artifacts, properties, configurations and even data across an application lifecycle in a safe, predictable and repeatable manner. Gartner reports that using an ARA tool is key to enabling DevOps and achieving continuous delivery. Wikipedia also defines five dimensions of scalability that can apply to ARA tools: • Administrative scalability • Functional scalability • Geographic scalability • Load scalability • Generational scalability This white paper will explain how each of these criteria is relevant when choosing an ARA product that is capable of scaling along with the growth of your enterprise.

The core technology behind Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) has evolved for decades. More recently, DRaaS has linked to the cloud, and finally hit its stride. Today it can provide unprecedented availability options to companies who don’t have secondary data centers dedicated to business continuity. Before now, only IT teams with additional IT budget, staff and geographic locations could effectively hedge against downtime, and disasters. But today’s DRaaS means that businesses of all sizes have the peace of mind that comes with knowing a replica of their data and systems is hosted at a remote site that they can fail over to—without bearing any of the infrastructure costs or maintenance responsibilities. All infrastructure and maintenance is the responsibility of the DRaaS provider. And the technology ensures that a replica is not only available, but always current and immediately available. This attractive value proposition led Gartner to predict that global DRaaS revenue will rea

Companies rely on an expanding set of applications to compete in today's rapidly evolving business environment: - They rely on a fast-growing array of applications and devices (email, collaboration tools, and smartphones/tablets) to communicate and conduct business with customers and business partners. - They are creating, collecting, and repurposing large, unstructured data sets in life sciences, geophysics, media, and manufacturing. - They are collecting, storing, and analyzing more social and sensor-generated data about environments, products, customers, and transactions. The promise of better and faster data-driven decision making based on all this information is pushing big data and analytics (BDA) technology to the top of executive agendas. To succeed, CIOs must place a laserlike investment focus on datacenter solutions that allow them to deliver scalable, reliable, and flexible infrastructure for fast-growing BDA environments. ADCs are advanced load balancers with functions and features that enhance the performance of applications. Today, companies of all sizes with geographical dispersal of people and different data constructs require ADCs to optimize their complex application environments from web applications, to Exchange, SharePoint and databases. It is interesting that before the term ADC was used more recently (in the last decade), companies relied on load balancers for website availability and scalability. In this paper we will describe the fundamentals of a load balancing system and its evolution to an ADC.

Enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) have some similar challenges in the realm of data protection. Both have to deal with expansive environments—with enterprises protecting distributed offices/geographies, and MSPs protecting many independent subscribers. Both also have been seeing production data storage and secondary protection storage demands rising. Enterprises and MSPs alike should therefore be looking for data protection architectures that have scale-out capabilities built into their core foundation.

For any business that wants to successfully compete in today’s digital economy, it is not a question of if but rather how much of their business will be done with cloud applications. A cloud application is one with many endpoints including browsers, mobile devices, and/or machines that are geographically distributed. The application is intensely transactional (high velocity reads and/or writes), always available, and instantaneously responsive no matter the number of users or machines using the application. Download this free white paper and explore how DataStax customers are delivering real-time value at epic scale with their cloud applications. Explore the core database requirements that make businesses successful with cloud applications, which include continuous availability, linear scale, and geographic distribution.

The world today is interacting at every level - consumers, business customers and employees - through cloud applications, and these cloud applications are transforming customer experiences. So what is a cloud application? Any application that has many geographically distributed endpoints (e.g. browsers, mobile devices or machines) should be considered a cloud application and treated accordingly.

Last year at this time, we forecast a bumpy ride for infosec through 2017, as ransomware continued to wreak havoc and new threats emerged to target a burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) landscape. ‘New IT’ concepts – from DevOps to various manifestations of the impact of cloud – seemed poised to both revolutionize and disrupt not only the implementation of security technology, but also the expertise required of security professionals as well. Our expectations for the coming year seem comparatively much more harmonious, as disruptive trends of prior years consolidate their gains. At center stage is the visibility wrought by advances in data science, which has given new life to threat detection and prevention – to the extent that we expect analytics to become a pervasive aspect of offerings throughout the security market in 2018. This visibility has unleashed the potential for automation to become more widely adopted, and not a moment too soon, given the scale and complexity of the thre
