Humans excel at tasks that require creativity, the opportunity to respond to the unexpected, and general attentiveness to the surrounding environment. Technology and machines, on the other hand, are built to process a lot of information quickly without getting bored; technology reliably completes the task it is assigned without deviation. The most powerful approach to adding technology to a team takes the strengths of both humans and technology into account and from that, creates a superior, collaborative system. For example, reporting software such as Spreadsheet Server and Atlas for Dynamics AX/365 by Global Software, Inc. both serve as machine learning intelligence that uses automation to reduce errors, while at the same time preserving humans’ ability to create reports and outcomes from the data the way they need to see it.

In this report, VSI applies HERE’s HD map data to a lane keeping application and examines performance of lane keeping with a map-based approach compared to a camera and computer vision-based approach. VSI tested the lane keeping system with and without map data on a local road in 3 scenarios: Lane lines expanding into a turn or exit lane An intersection without lane lines A widening in the lane The results show that in all scenarios, the computer-vision-only lane keeping systems got confused and made errors in a vehicle’s trajectory when lane markings were out of the ordinary or invisible. Faced with the same road conditions, the map-based lane keeping system stayed within the desired trajectory outperforming the compute- vision-only systems. This report proves that using a lane model from an HD map can solve common issues involved in computer-vision-only lane keeping.

The later in the system development life-cycle that major errors are discovered the more expensive it is to fix them. But the earliest stages of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) are most often the least consistently executed. This paper describes a methodology that brings the early stages of the SDLC up to a high level of maturity: consistent, proven, and optimized for success.

SSL/TLS has been & will be a core enabling technology critical for securing communications. The most significant challenge facing the SSL ecosystem is its implementation. Researchers have recently published reports indicating widespread errors & shortcomings in the implementation of SSL/TLS in mobile applications. These issues often result from flawed use of SDKs or APIs used by developers. This paper lists necessary steps to take to create a stronger, more trustworthy SSL implementation. All SSL client non-browser applications should follow all these practices to ensure strong authentication, confidentiality & integrity.

Public key infrastructure (PKI) is the foundation of today’s enterprise security. But most PKI lacks central visibility, consistent processes, and refresh progress validation. This leads to errors and missed system updates that result in policy violations and costly business interruptions. You can solve these issues with a PKI refresh that delivers automated key and certificate security and management.

Digital technology continues to play an ever-increasing role in today’s modern healthcare systems. While 95% of hospitals in the United States have implemented Electronic Health Records or EHR, much work remains.1 Patient identification errors continue to plague hospitals and are the precipitating factor for 13% of surgical mistakes and 67% of transfusion mix-ups.2 Nationally, medication errors cause at least one death every day and injure 1.3 million people annually.3 The cost of lost lives, reduced productivity and malpractice insurance fees are debilitating the healthcare industry. At the center of every hospital’s safety program is the patient wristband, which provides caregivers access to the information they need at every point of care during the patient stay. However, not all wristbands are of equal quality. Some wristbands are not durable enough to withstand the rigors of a busy hospital environment, leading to workarounds and mistakes that, in the end, comprise patient care. H
